Vicksburg
Vicksburg National Military Park is located at the site of key Civil War turning point the Siege of Vicksburg. The park commemorates the ruthless fight between Union and Rebel forces for control of one of the last standing Confederate supply routes along the Mississippi. 51 interpretive wayside panels spread throughout this extensive National Park Service site tell the story of the battles and the salvaged U.S.S. Cairo, an ironclad Union gunboat sunk by Confederate mines, to visitors of the park.
